Notre Dame Receives Commitment From Katie Allare

Jan. 8, 2008

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame women’s golf head coach Susan Holt has announced the commitment of Katie Allare (Phoenix, Ariz.), who will join the Fighting Irish program beginning in the 2008-09 season. Allare is a four-year letterwinner at golf powerhouse Xavier Prep.

Allare has been a part of the tremendous success at Xavier Prep, which has captured the Division 5A championship for 10 straight seasons. Along with her accomplishments on the course, Allare is a team captain and she has excelled in the classroom. She has been on the honor roll all four of her prep years in addition to being named an Arizona Interscholastic Athletics Scholar Athlete.

“We are very pleased to have Katie join the Lady Irish golf program,” said Holt. “She is a great addition to an already impressive 2008 class. Katie has high expectations for herself and is motivated to be an impact player. With continued improvement and the competitive environment she will encounter here at Notre Dame, I think she will get the push she needs and accomplish her goals.”

Some of Allare’s career highlights include a victory at the AJGA Golf Pride Junior Classic Qualifier in August of 2006 at the Pine Needles Golf Course in Pinehurst, N.C. In February of 2006, Allare notched a sixth-place showing at the IJGT at ASU Karsten.

This past June, she registered 10th-place finishes at both the AJGA Las Vegas Founders Junior Golf Championship and at the AJGA Dalhouise Junior Championship in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Allare is a member of the JGAA 2007 Quintero Cup Team.

Allare is the daughter of Greg and Ellen Allare. Her father is a 1975 Notre Dame graduate. Katie becomes the second commitment for Notre Dame in the class of 2012. Becca Huffer signed with the Irish in November.
