Notre Dame Set To Conclude Fall Schedule At The Tribe Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Irish men’s tennis team will close out its 2009 fall schedule in Williamsburg, Va. when it takes part in the Tribe Invitational on Nov. 6-8. The tree day event will feature individual and doubles matches (as part of a hidden duals format) involving student-athletes from the host institution of William & Mary, Maryland and the College of Charleston as well as nine members of the Fighting Irish squad. The tournament will be played at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center on the William & Mary campus.

Juniors Daniel Stahl (Bethesda, Md.), David Anderson (Sandwich, Mass.), Sean Tan (Lakewood, Calif.) and Matt Johnson (Portage, Mich.); sophomores Niall Fitzgerald (Wicklow, Ireland) and Sam Keeton (Kansas City, Mo.) as well as freshmen Blas Moros (Boca Raton, Fla.), Michael Moore (Glenview, Ill.) and Spencer Talmadge (Hillsborough, CA/Junipero Serra) are expected to participate for the Irish.

This year marks the fourth consecutive year in which the Irish have travelled to the Tribe Invitational as part of their fall schedule. At last year’s tournament, current Irish players Stephen Havens (Cincinnati, Ohio), Stahl and Casey Watt (Gibsonia, Pa.) were named to the Tribe Invitational All-Tournament team.

The Tribe Invitational marks Notre Dame’s third and final team event of the fall season, having opened up at Illinois’ Olympia Fields Invitational on Friday, September 18 and having also participated in the Harvard Fall Invitational on Oct. 9-11.
