Notre Dame Travels to Northwestern

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Two days after clinching a spot in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, the University of Notre Dame baseball team will hit the road for its final regular-season, non-conference game. The Irish (23-25) will face Northwestern (16-29) in a 4:30 p.m. ET matinee on Tuesday at Miller Park (Evanston, Illinois).

Left-hander Tommy Sheehan will compete against right-hander Anthony Alepra.

Notre Dame controls a 72-60-1 overall record against Northwestern, including a 24-30-1 mark at Northwestern. The Irish have won three of the last four games against the Wildcats and are 5-5 over the last 10 matchups.

The Irish were shut out by the Wildcats in their last game on April 11 at the Eck, where senior starter Charlie Vorsheck allowed two runs in 1.2 innings in the 2-0 loss.

Game Notes

• Over the last 10 games, Alex Kerschner has hit .324 (12-37) with five multi-hit games. Kerschner has hit safely in eight of his last 10 contests.
• Nick Podkul has gone 15-for-41 (.366) over the last 10 games.
• Eric Gilgenbach is batting .421 (8-19) during his five-game hitting streak.
• Since April 1, Matt Vierling has recorded a hit in 17 of 22 games (batting .329) with nine multi-hit performances and 16 RBI over that span.
• Zack Martin has not allowed a run in his last four games (7.0 IP).
