The sixth-ranked Notre Dame women’s soccer used goals by six different players, including a hat trick by Jenny Heft for a 10-0 win over Georgetown on Friday night at Alumni Field. Jen Grubb and Meotis Erikson added a pair of goals for the Irish, who improve to 7-2-0 and 3-0-0 in the BIG EAST Mid-Atlantic division with the win. The Hoyas fall to 6-5-0, 0-2-0 with the loss. Irish goalkeepers LaKeysia Beene and Elizabeth Wagner combined to record the second consecutive shutout for Notre Dame. The Irish return to action against Villanova on Sun., Oct. 3, at 1:00 p.m. at Alumni Field.

Heft gave the Irish a 1-0 lead at 4:10 when she took a pass from Anne Makinen that went through the Georgetown defense for what would be the game-winning goal. Grubb then scored two consecutive goals on a free kick at 10:42 and a header from a corner kick at 29:52 to put Notre Dame ahead 3-0. Heft made it 4-0 at halftime with a blast from 17 yards out at 39:04.

Four goals in the first 18 minutes of the second half from Makinen, Heft and two from Erikson put the Irish ahead 8-0. Kate Morrel and Lindsey Jones blasted unassisted goals from outside the box at 79:26 and 89:50 for the 10-0 final score.

Notre Dame’s 10 goals are most for the Irish since an 11-0 win over West Virginia on Oct. 25, 1996. Notre Dame outshot Georgetown 44-0, marking the 12th time the Irish have held an opponent without a shot and the first time since holding Seton Hall shotless on Sept. 24, 1995.
