NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame men’s lacrosse midfielder Sergio Perkovic has been named a Scholar All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.
In 1989 the USILA Scholar All-America Program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically and athletically and as citizens of their communities. The USILA selection committee selects an overall team representing Division I, II and III.
The criteria are:
- A Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale).
- He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution and to college lacrosse both on and off the field.
- He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team or an outstanding league or conference player.
Perkovic started 62 games during his career at Notre Dame. Earlier this season the senior became the seventh player in program history to reach the 100-goal milestone. The midfielder ended his career with 111 goals, which represent the most ever by a Notre Dame midfielder. Perkovic turned in the greatest goal-scoring performance of his illustrious career in an 11-10 win over Marquette on April 11 during his senior season, as he scored a career-high six goals to will the Irish to victory.
Perkovic was selected as a Senior Class Award first team member and earned a spot as one of the final 25 Tewaaraton Award nominees. The senior is a three-time ACC All-Academic recipient. Perkovic also served on the NCAA Competition Oversight Committee as the lone student representative in 2015-16.
Perkovic led the Irish to an appearance in the NCAA Championship final (2014), the NCAA Championship semifinals (2015) and NCAA Championship quarterfinals (2016) as well as the 2014 ACC Tournament title. He was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 2014 and 2015.
The recent graduate excelled in the classroom graduating cum laude with a finance degree in the Mendoza College of Business. He has been a member of the Dean’s List on four occasions and is a three-time ACC All-Academic recipient.
Perkovic was also involved in the community, as the Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, native served as a mentor at Dickinson Fine Arts Academy, a local middle school, for the last three years. For the efforts the Notre Dame men’s lacrosse program was presented the ACC/United Way “Game Changers” Award. Perkovic also took part in the Rosenthal Leadership Academy.
Perkovic was recently selected with the second overall pick in the 2017 MLL draft by the Boston Cannons, marking the highest selection of an Irish student-athlete in program history.

Robby Hamman joined Fighting Irish Media as athletics communications assistant director in September 2016, coordinating efforts for the volleyball and men’s lacrosse program. Hamman is a 2010 graduate of Bethel College, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in sport management and business administration, and earned his master’s degree in business administration from Defiance College in 2013.
