Joyce Center – Notre Dame, Indiana
Notre Dame Coach Mike Brey
On the first half score…
“Defensively we played a lot of different things, and we did a pretty good job. We had to, because that probably saved us. It is awfully deflating missing six layups in the first half that would’ve given you a different half-time score.”
On Zach Hillesland’s return…
“It’s really good having Zach Hillesland back; he’s not all the way back yet. It’ll probably be another week to get him in shape and get him accustomed. We certainly need him. “
On Tyrone Nash’s play…
“I was very impressed with Ty Nash’s minutes. That is what we need from his position. He gives us a couple of put-backs and gives us stuff around the basket. That is what he has being doing at practice and that is the reason he is the guy we went to.”
On the new players…
“We are going to have a revolving door make the 8th man. With Scott Carleton, Ty Nash, and Tim Abromimaitis, I think they are all going to get a crack at it. It will be whose playing well, whose got the juice, whose got the energy, whose healthy that guy will play. That assumes that the seven veterans are healthy.”
On Jonathon People’s calming presence…
“I would love to play with Jon Peoples. The guy would just be so fun to play with. He is so efficient. I can’t remember the last time he made a bad decision with the ball. He knows who he is and knows he’s got himself in really good shape so he can be athletic. You couldn’t ask for a better guy coming off the bench. He brings such a calming presence.”
