Army vs. Notre Dame
Post-Game Quotes
December 21, 2006 o Joyce Center o Notre Dame, Ind.
Notre Dame Head Coach Mike Brey
“This is the first team that I’ve had that has been sharp right after exam week. They have shown great focus and tonight was another example of that. It gives us some momentum for those last two games in December.”
“We came out in the second half and still paid attention to detail. Army is a good basketball team and they are going to do very well in the Patriot League.”
“Colin [Falls] was in a pretty good rhythm for us. For a guy who has played so much basketball to then have to sit out twice, he was chomping at the bit. It was good to have him out there and he is a key guy for our team. Beyond shooting the ball well and scoring, just his presence on he court is so important for us.”
“Now the guys are going to get some rest and get refreshed, spend some times with their families – which is very important – and then get ready for a couple more games before the New Year. In preseason, we were in very good shape and we just want to make sure that keeps up all season. When we come back from the break, we are going to do a little conditioning test to see where we are at with that progress.”
“Luke Harangody gave us such a presence in the second half. He continues to give us a toughness inside. I also thought Tory Jackson came in and gave us energy and really was smart with the ball. It was just a real unselfish game for the whole team. We had 27 assists on 31 baskets and shot the ball very well.”
“For those final few minutes, we were playing two freshmen, two walk-ons and Ryan Ayers and they were still moving, cutting and playing together just like the guys who started the game.”
“These first two months of the season have been a great atmosphere to teach and motivate the players. We have put some money in the bank but we have to remember the recipe.”
“Our crowd was great tonight and people should really get out to see this group because they are a fun team to watch.”

Army Head Coach Jim Crews
His thoughts on the game … “We got beat in every which way. Notre Dame played harder than us and they competed harder than us and they played smarter than us. They do a great job in making the extra pass and knowing where their shooters are. (Colin) Falls seemed like he hit every shot there for about 30 minutes. I don’t know if he did, but it seemed like it. Anytime there were scramble situations, they came up with it and scored with it. It might be an offensive rebound, we might have made a decent play but didn’t get our hands on it then all of a sudden it’s a scramble. They do a good job of getting you in a scramble because of penetration with great spacing. They caused problems for us with their size out on the perimeter. (Russell) Carter is big, Falls is big and (Luke) Zeller is big out there so it’s easier to pass the ball. They manhandled us.”
