OMAHA, Neb. – Notre Dame standout women’s swimmer Emma Reaney qualified for Wednesday night’s semifinals of the 200 IM after finishing ninth in the morning swim at the 2012 U.S. Swimming and Diving Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.
The three-time Honorable Mention All-American breezed through the water in 2:14.79 to take ninth. Just as she did during all of the 2011-12 season, the sophomore has turned heads throughout the week, finishing in the top 41 in all three races she has competed in thus far. She took 41st in the 400 IM and followed that up with a 24th place finish in the 100 breast.
In all, 16 swimmers advanced to Wednesday night’s semifinal races, with the top eight earning a spot in Thursday night’s finals.
Through three days at the trials, the Irish have swam in eight races, with no one finishing worse than tied for 77th in events that feature as many as 162 swimmers apiece.
