Notre Dame, Ind. – Senior forward Rob Kurz (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for 15-point and 11-rebound effort in Notre Dame’s 87-54 win over Brown. Kurz earned the honor for the first time this season and fourth time in player. He also becomes the third different Irish player to earn honor roll recognition from the conference this season joining teammates Luke Harangody and Kyle McAlarney.
Kurz also is coming off one of the best performances of his career as he netted a season-high 23 points and grabbed a career-best 13 boards for his fourth double-double of the season in Notre Dame’s 77-58 win over North Florida on December 31. It marked the ninth time this season he has registered double figures in scoring and the second game he has netted 20-plus points.
The lone senior on the team and captain of the 2007-08 Irish squad, he is second in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.2 points and 7.8 rebounds. He has started 54 of the 87 contests he has played in during his career and scored 772 points (8.9) and grabbed 509 rebounds (5.9) during his career.
Paul Harris of Syracuse was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week and Dar Tucker of DePaul copped rookie-of-the-week honors. Joining Kurz on the Honor Roll were Jerome Dyson of Connecticut, Terrence Williams of Louisville, JR Inman of Rutgers and Kentrell Gransberry of USF.
