SUMMER 2008: Despite tough weather conditions, advanced to 16-man match play tree at Wolverton Alberta Open Championship in Dewinton (Carnmoney GC) after finishing sixth (fourth among amateurs) during medal play at two-over par 146 (73-73) … fell in first round of Alberta Match Play Championship in Dewinton (Carnmoney GC) on 19th hole to Tim Webb … tied for 34th at Sun Life Financial Men[apos]s Amateur in Calgary (Calgary G&CC) with 19-over par 299 (76-70-80-73) … earned exemption into main field at Western Amateur, but did not make 36-hole cut after firing nine-over par 149 (75-74) at Point O[apos] Woods Golf & Country Club in Benton Harbor, Mich.
AS A FRESHMAN: Played in six tournaments during his first collegiate season, including the last three in the Irish starting lineup … tallied 75.53 stroke average over 17 rounds … saw all nine of his travel-squad rounds count to the team score … made college debut at Rutgers Invitational (‘B’ team event), tying for eighth place at six-over par 219 (69-77-73) and setting season-low marks for 18 and 54 holes in the process … participated as an individual at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic, where he placed 69th at 34-over par 244 (80-83-81) … opened spring season with 32nd-place tie in Charleston Southern Spring Kickoff (‘B’ team event) at 19-over par 232 (75-80-77) … broke into starting lineup for first time at National Invitational Tournament, ending up tied for 48th place at eight-over par 224 (74-72-78) … posted best finish of rookie season at Irish Invitational, tying for fourth place at one-over par 141 (71-70) … became the seventh Notre Dame freshman in as many seasons to play at BIG EAST Championship, tying for 18th place at eight-over par 224 (77-75-72).
