Notre Dame, Ind. – Sean Carroll has been promoted assistant sports information director at the University of Notre Dame. Carroll had spent the past two years serving as a sports information assistant for the Fighting Irish, working with the men’s soccer, men’s lacrosse, women’s golf and men’s swimming and diving teams.

Carroll has promoted teams that have appeared in top-20 national polls, along with advancing to NCAA tournament play on three occasions. This past season, he worked with the men’s soccer team that advanced to the NCAA tournament Sweet 16 and the men’s lacrosse team, which qualified for the NCAAs after reaching a No. 8 ranking earlier in the season. The Notre Dame men’s swimming and diving team captured its second straight BIG EAST title in 2006 and the women’s golf program came up just short in their attempt to make the NCAA field for the third straight season.

Prior to coming to Notre Dame in August of 2004, Carroll spent the 2003-04 season as a media relations assistant at the University at Albany. In that capacity, he worked with the men’s and women’s soccer programs along with the Great Danes baseball and track and field teams.

Carroll graduated from Indiana University in 2002 with a degree in broadcast journalism.
