NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The accolades continue to funnel in for the University of Notre Dame’s two-time national champion, Molly Seidel. In accordance with a vote of the league’s head coaches, Seidel was named the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday.

Seidel, a senior from Hartland, Wisconsin, became the first ACC performer since North Carolina’s Shalane Flanagan in 2003 and the seventh overall to capture the NCAA women’s individual title. Seidel completed the 6k course at Louisville, Kentucky, in 19:28.6, five seconds ahead of Boise State’s Allie Ostrander (19:33.6).

At the 2015 ACC Cross Country Championships, Seidel claimed the title in a 6k-mark of 19:36.2. She also earned the top spot at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.

“The ACC honor comes as no surprise, as Molly has been the class of the field in the conference,” Notre Dame head coach Alan Turner said. “The conference is one of the Power Five’s toughest; however, Molly trains with a group of intense, great young ladies that push her. Molly and teammate Anna Rohrer were one-two at the ACC Championships. We are very proud of Molly and her monumental year.”

Complementing her NCAA title-winning performance, Seidel has recently been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Athlete of the Year, as well as the Honda Sports Award Winner for Cross Country.
