Seven Irish Named to IWLCA Academic Honor Roll

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Seven Irish, including Maddie Carr, Kelly Donnelly, Sydney Flynn, Cassie Ford, Erin McBride, Makenna Pearsall and Grace Steffens, were named to the 2019 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Honor Roll.

In addition, the Irish received their eighth-consecutive IWLCA Academic Honor Squad designation for having earned a team cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Flynn and Pearsall both earn IWLCA Academic Honor Roll recognition for the second straight season. To be named to the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be at least junior standing and hold a 3.5 or higher GPA.

Last month, McBride and Pearsall were among nine Irish that were named to the ACC Women’s Lacrosse All-Academic Team. The nine honorees led the conference and were the most the Irish have earned since joining the ACC in 2014.

The Irish have made the NCAA Tournament on 13 occasions, including berths in seven of the last eight seasons under head coach Christine Halfpenny.

The 14 victories the Irish earned last season tied the 2016 Irish squad for the third-most wins in a single season in program history.
