COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – This past summer Glenn & Stacey Murphy Head Coach Micah Shrewsberry struck gold with the U18 USA squad at the 2024 FIBA U18 Americup. It marked his first stint on a USABJNT staff. In the summer of 2025, Coach Shrewsberry will look to run it back.
On Thursday afternoon, the USA Basketball Junior National Team Committee announced that Arizona’s Tommy Lloyd will lead the U19 squad and once again be assisted by Texas Tech’s Grant McCasland and Notre Dame’s own Micah Shrewsberry. The trio previously served as the coaching staff for the 2024 USA U18 National Team, a squad that went 6-0 and won the gold medal at the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup in Buenos Aires.
This time around, they’ll look to lead the USA at the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup June 28-July 6 in Lausanne, Switzerland. The FIBA U19 World Cup takes place every two years with the U.S. winning eight gold medals in the history of the event, including two of the last three (2019, 2021).
