HONORS & AWARDS

• 2021 All-ACC Academic Team

SENIOR SEASON (2022)

• Made 25 appearances on the season.
• Finished the year with a 3.83 ERA, 3-1 record with 3 saves through 47.0 innings pitched with 54 strikeouts.
• Was second best on the team in appearances and saves and finished third on the squad in strikeouts.
• Earned the win over #1 Tennessee in the Super Regionals after tossing 3.2 innings of relief. (6/10/22)
• Picked up the save that advanced the Irish to the ACC Semifinals for the first time in program history after shutting the door on Florida State in Pool Play. (5/26/22)
• Tied a career high with 8 strikeouts and tossed a season-best 4.1 innings against Duke. (4/15/22)
• Claimed the win after 2.0 innings of relief in the 2-0 extra inning win over #5 Florida State. It was the first time in program history that the Seminoles had been shut out in an extra inning game. (4/1/22)

JUNIOR SEASON (2021)

• Made 15 appearances and one start on the season.
• Finished the year with a 2-1 record with 2 saves and a 3.16 ERA over 37.0 innings pitched with 36 strikeouts.
• Was one of seven Irish pitchers to record a save and was one of 11 pitchers to make a start this season.
• Set a career high with eight strikeouts against No. 14 Georgia Tech (4/10).
• Set a career high with 5.1 innings pitched against Duke (3/21).
• Earned his first career save against No. 16 Wake Forest after tying a career high with 4.2 innings pitched (2/28).
• Currently playing summer ball with the Harwich Mariners in the Cape Cod League.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2020)*

• Made four starts during the abbreviated season.
• Set career highs with 4.2 innings pitched and six strikeouts against UTSA at the Alamo Irish Classic.
• Made his first career start on Feb. 15 against UAB.

*Season suspended after 13 games due to COVID-19

FRESHMAN SEASON (2019)

• Made five appearances in his freshman season
• Totaled a career high three innings pitched in relief against Western Michigan (4/10)
• Also struck out a career-high four batters against the Broncos
• Playing summer ball with the Duluth Huskies in the Northwoods League

PERSONAL

• Graduated from Oxbridge Academy in May 2018 and intends to major in business.
• Earned four varsity letters in baseball and one in football.
• Finished his four-year career with a 10-10 record, a 2.92 ERA (50 ER/119.2 IP) and 167 strikeouts, including going 3-3 with a 2.08 ERA (10 ER/33.2 IP) as a senior.
• Attended the same high school as fellow teammate Zach Mazur.
• Alexander Francis Rao is the son of Edward and Susan Rao. Has an older brother, Edward.
