Delayna Myers 2024-25 Cheerleading Staff
Head Coach & Program Director
Coach Myers brought 9 years of prior coaching experience and over 17 years of cheerleading experience with her when she joined the Notre Dame Cheerleading program as the head coach in 2016. She began her coaching career as a teenager coaching All-Star cheerleading and instructing tumbling classes in the summer and after school and her cheer practices. She began coaching at a young age as her desire to coach stemmed from her strong love and passion for the sport of cheerleading. She became a competitive cheerleader at the age of 8 winning many local and national competitions, she then transitioned to cheering for her middle school and high school teams winning two state titles. Coach Myers then attended Bowling Green State University where she studied Dietetics and cheered all four years on the all-girl and small coed teams, and competed with their College STUNT Team and at UCA Nationals. During and after her time at BGSU she was a member of the Detroit Tigers Energy Squad which opened her eyes to the type of collaboration it takes between marketing, promotions, and the spirit groups to create a cohesive and well-rounded game day experience for fans. Upon graduating Coach Myers pursued coaching all-star and high school cheerleading, working with a company that taught cheerleading and tumbling technique, injury prevention, and conditioning throughout the state of Michigan full-time, while also coaching the All Girl club team at the University of Michigan.
Since taking over the program in 2016 she has continued to grow in the field judging local and international cheerleading competitions, forming the ACC Spirit Working group to collaborate with the other spirit coordinators in the conference, and continuing to grow and diversify the cheerleading and leprechaun programs including many first. She was named ACC Spirit Coach of the Year in 2021 and in January of 2023, she took Notre Dame Cheerleading to compete at UCA College Nationals where they placed 9th in the nation.
Coach Myers is a native of the Detroit Metro Area but has fallen in love with South Bend where she met husband Jeff. Delayna, Jeff and their mini golden doodle Duncan spend most of their time supporting Notre Dame Athletics and supporting local businesses downtown South Bend. When she is not living out her dream, coaching college cheerleading at The University of Notre Dame she enjoys teaching yoga, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
