Battle-tested foilist who could become rare four-time All-American in 2008 (after placing 7th-8th-9th at the 2005-07 NCAAs) … has the talent and track record to make a run at the NCAA title … a technically and tactically sound fencer who has reported in good physical shape for his final college season … has spent significant time building his technical repertoire over the past few years … a smart and calm bouter who could show more of a fighting nature on the strip during his final season … brings classic blend of intellect and athleticism to the strip … a proven winner as one of top junior fencers in Poland … tall fencer with a very technical style … has a diverse range of actions and workmanlike demeanor … able to draw on a wide-reaching background in fencing and winning traditions … enters 2008 with a 128-35 career record in regular-season bouts (39th on ND list of all-time men[apos]s fencing wins) … needs just 10 more wins to crack the ND men[apos]s foil career top-10 (32 wins in 2008 would tie him with former teammate Frank Bontempo for the 2nd-most foil wins in ND history) … joins Jim Russamano (3; 1958-60), Charles Higgs-Coulthard (4; 1984-87), Yehuda Kovacs (4; 1986-89), Jeremy Siek (4; 1994-97) and Ozren Debic (4; 2000-03) as the only Notre Dame men[apos]s foilists ever to be an All-American in three-plus seasons … has compiled a 39-30 record in NCAA Tournament round-robin action … joins two other current Irish fencers – junior men[apos]s epeeist Karol Kostka (Krakow) and freshman women[apos]s epeeist Ewa Nelip (Katowice) – and two of his former teammates (Alicja Kryczalo and Michal Sobieraj) as the only Poland natives ever to compete on a Notre Dame varsity team … Kryczalo (Gdansk) – currently a volunteer assistant with the Irish – won the 2002-04 NCAA women[apos]s foil titles (also [apos]05 runner-up) while Sobieraj (Leszno) similarly was a four-year All-American (he won the 2005 NCAA men[apos]s epee title and was the [apos]03 runner-up, plus 3rd in -[apos]04 and 10th in [apos]02).

AS A JUNIOR: Won nearly 75 percent of his bouts in the regular season (42-16; .724) before winning the Midwest Fencing Conference title, finishing as runner-up at the NCAA Midwest Regional and collecting his third career All-America honor (with 9th-place NCAA finish) … opened with near-perfect record at Notre Dame Duals (20-2) that included pair of wins in battle with Ohio State (5-4 vs. Dmitri Kirk-Gordon; 5-1 vs. Will Jeter), in addition to other top wins over Stanford[apos]s Richard Fulton (5-3) and the UC San Diego duo of Cameron Sprowles and John Chung (both 5-2) … posted 5-3 win over Columbia All-American Scott Sugimoto as part of his 9-8 record at the NYU Duals … his 9-3 mark at the Duke Duals included 5-1 bout with Johns Hopkins veteran Nick Marchuk and 5-4 win over Duke[apos]s Jackson McClam … highlighted his 4-3 day at the Northwestern Duals with 5-4 win over Penn State[apos]s Nicholas Chinman … entered MFCs as #3 seed but dropped to #10 after pools (despite 4-0 record) … responded to the resulting tough draw by edging OSU[apos]s Andras Horanyi ([apos]06 NCAA runner-up) in a 15-14 quarterfinal … trailed 11-6 in that bout before rattling off seven of the next eight touches … went on to beat Jeter in the semifinals (15-13) and OSU[apos]s Joe Streb in 15-4 MFC title bout … his pair of wins over OSU (5-1 vs. Kirk-Gordon; 5-2 vs. Jeter) were not enough to stop Buckeyes from nipping the Irish in an exciting MFC men[apos]s epee team final (4-5) … entered Regional (at ND) as #5 and improved to #4 entering the direct-elimination, when he knocked off the #2 seed Kirk-Gordon (15-13) and then beat him again in the round-of-8 (15-11) … added 15-9 semifinal win over his ND teammate Kubik but lost the Regional final to Horanyi (4-15) … his opening day at the NCAAs (6-8; in Madison, N.J.) included noteworthy 5-4 wins over Fulton and Penn[apos]s Michael Galligan … completed his All-America 9th-place finish (12-11) by going 6-3 on day-2 at the NCAAs, with another win over Columbia[apos]s Sugimoto (5-4) and a sweep of Harvard (5-3 vs. Kai Itameri-Kinter; 5-1 vs. Enoch Woodhouse) … helped Notre Dame total the maximum six men[apos]s All-Americans for the third time (ND[apos]s 85 men[apos]s wins were its most since 2003) … split 10 tense one-touch bouts at the NCAAs … earlier had another solid showing at the annual Penn State Open in the fall of 2006, placing seventh (after finishing second in [apos]04 and winning in [apos]05) … his early wins at the PSU Open included a 5-3 bout with Sam Wunderlich of St. John[apos]s and a pair of wins over PSU[apos]s Robert MacClaren (5-1, 5-2), also beating Wunderlich in the round-of-16 (15-11) before losing to former OSU standout Boaz Ellis (the three-time NCAA champ) in a 7-15 quarterfinal.

AS A SOPHOMORE: Named foil team[apos]s MVP after fashioning 39-12 record in the regular season, placing third MFCs and fifth at the Midwest Regional before posting his second straight All-America finish at the NCAAs (8th) … opened season 9-4 at the Northwestern Duals before 10-4 day at NYU Duals, with top wins over NYU[apos]s Gabe Sinkin ([apos]05 NCAA runner-up) and Alexander Kao (both 5-2), SJU[apos]s Wunderlich (5-2) and Yale[apos]s Cory Werk (5-3), the [apos]04 NCAA runner-up … added 10-1 record at the ND Duals and 10-3 at the UC San Diego Duals (with a 5-2 win over UCSD[apos]s Sprowles and a 5-4 bout with Fullerton[apos]s Alex Decker) … beat defending NCAA champ Ellis of Ohio State in the MFC quarterfinals (15-10) before losing to his OSU teammate Horanyi in semifinals (10-15) … entered Regional (in Cleveland) as #2 seed but finished fifth, with quarterfinal loss to OSU[apos]s Kirk-Gordon (12-15) followed by win over Detroit[apos]s Craig Budzynski in 5th-place bout … stood in 8th-place at NCAAs (in Houston) after going 8-6 on day-1, scoring key wins over Columbia[apos]s Sugimoto (5-3), SJU[apos]s Wunderlich (5-1), Penn[apos]s Galligan (5-3) and Yale[apos]s Werk (5-2) … maintained 8th-place standing after going 4-5 on day-2 at the NCAAs, with wins over Harvard[apos]s Itameri-Kinter and Penn State duo of Alexander Louton and Jeff Chang (both 5-0) helping clinch his All-America status … won Penn State Open in fall of [apos]05, besting OSU[apos]s Ellis in semifinals (15-10) and PSU[apos]s Chang in 15-13 final.

AS A FRESHMAN: Earned second team All-America honors after 7th-place finish at 2005 NCAAs … his impressive first year included 47-7 regular-season record, a runner-up finish at the MFCs and winning the Midwest Regional … opened with 8-4 mark at NYU Duals and followed with 25-3 showing at the ND Duals … won his final 21 bouts of the season (nine at ND Duals, two at OSU Duals, 12 at Duke Duals) … lost to teammate Frank Bontempo (13-15) in final of MFC men[apos]s foil championship … earned #2 seed at Regional and lost title fenceoff to OSU[apos]s Jeter (following old round-robin format) … his 10-1 Regional mark included wins over Jeter (5-2), Bontempo (5-1) and OSU[apos]s Richard Spicer (5-2) … tied for sixth after first day of NCAAs (9-5), with wins over NYU[apos]s Sinkin (5-3) and fellow All-American Steve Gerberman of Stanford (5-2) … closed NCAAs with 6-3 record (15-8 overall) on second day, sweeping Columbia duo of Sugimoto (5-2) and All-American Jeremy Sinkin (5-0) … won Northwestern Open in fall of 2004 before runner-up showing at PSU Open, beating OSU[apos]s Ellis in 15-10 semifinal and losing 6-15 final to PSU[apos]s Non Panchan (the [apos]02 and [apos]03 NCAA champ) … his 14-1 record in pools at that event preceded wins over Princeton[apos]s Daniel Hohensee (15-3) and PSU[apos]s Ian Schlaepfer (15-8).
