- 2013 Chicago Tribune All-Illinois Second Team
- As a senior in 2013, anchored an offensive line that allowed just four sacks all season

- Son of former Notre Dame offensive lineman Ron Plantz ’86 and brother of former Irish running back and current special teams analyst Tyler Plantz ’14

- Enrolled in the College of Arts and Letters, majoring in political science
