Assistant Athletics Director, Football External Engagement
Hunter Bivin currently serves as the Assistant Athletics Director for Football External Engagement. In his role, he is the primary strategic liaison between the football program and its most vital external stakeholders, including alumni, benefactors, VIPs, partners, and all other external entities. As the “front porch” of the program, Bivin is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of a comprehensive engagement strategy intended to cultivate relationships, and support the philanthropic and operational goals of the program, department, and University. In addition, he supports the AVP/COO with high-level projects and tasks as they relate to strategic vision of the program.
Prior to assuming his current role, Bivin served as the Assistant AD for Alumni Relations where he was responsible for the strategic engagement of Notre Dame’s 26 varsity sport former student-athlete population, working to build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with over 13,000 former Notre Dame student-athletes. In this role, he was responsible for implementation and execution of strategic student-athlete alumni outreach methods, creation and oversight of student-athlete connection avenues and mechanisms, and relationship management with Notre Dame alumni professional athletes.
Bivin previously served four years (2018-2022) as Notre Dame Football’s Director of Player Development where he was responsible for fostering environments that promote the well-being and personal development of Notre Dame Football student-athletes. In this role, he challenged football student-athletes to establish and maintain effective interactions with their teammates, classmates, coaches, faculty, and staff while overseeing football student-athlete day-to-day adherence to NCAA, university, and football program specific rules, policies, and procedures. He served as the primary academic liaison between football staff members and Academic Services for Student-Athletes, provided guidance with all football student-athlete financial processes and procedures, and was responsible for all football student-athlete information and participation record keeping.
A four-year letter winner at Notre Dame, Bivin played in 29 games on the Irish offensive line from 2013-2017 and was a member of the unit that earned the Joe Moore Award in 2017, which is given to the most outstanding offensive line unit in the nation.
The Owensboro, Kentucky native earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Notre Dame in 2017. He and his wife, Megan (SMC ‘17) live in Granger, IN and are the parents of two daughters, Mia and Remi.
