Bio

Katy Lonergan is in her fifth year at Notre Dame overall and is in her third year serving as the Associate Athletics Director for Strategic and Football Communications, Advisor to the Head Football Coach. Lonergan oversees all aspects of day-to-day football communications, strategic messaging and also leads the football creative and brand team. Additionally, she provides strategic support to Dick Corbett Head Coach Marcus Freeman and works alongside the Fighting Irish Media leadership team to help guide strategic messaging for the athletics department.

Prior to her current role, Lonergan worked in a similar capacity at Notre Dame as the Assistant Athletics Director for Football Communications for two years before being promoted to her current position.

Before arriving at Notre Dame, Lonergan, served as the Director of Football Communications for the University of Kansas for nine years, working directly with the coaching staff and student-athletes to promote the program. Additionally, she led editorial efforts with the ESPN+ program, Miles To Go, that followed the journey of national championship head coach Les Miles during his first season in Lawrence.

During her first four years at Kansas, Lonergan was the communications contact for Jayhawks women’s basketball and assisted with men’s basketball, before moving to her position with the football program.

Prior to returning to her alma mater in 2007, Lonergan worked at Ole Miss with a variety of sports, including football, women’s basketball and track and field.

A native of Iola, Kansas, Lonergan completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Kansas. She currently lives in Granger, with her dogs, Archie the Golden Receiver and Eli the Wide Retriever.
