Stevens' Hole-In-One Highlights Final Day At Watersound Invitational

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Nate Stevens’ memorable spring season got underway with a hole-in-one shot on the 14th hole Tuesday morning as the junior and his Irish teammates oped their spring slate at the Watersound Invitational, hosted by Florida State University in Panama City Beach, Florida. The Notre Dame men’s golf team finished 10th overall at the two-day tournament after rounds two and three were moved to Tuesday due to anticipated weather Wednesday. The team finished with a score of 871(+7) through the three rounds, led by Stevens’ 213(-3) score.

Stevens led the Irish with a tournament-low score of 69(-3) in Round 2 of the Watersound Invitational after posting a score of 74(+2) in the opening round. His 70(-2) led the team in the final round as he finished with a team-low 213(-3) Tuesday evening, good for a 14th-place tie.

Jacob Modleski finished second for the Irish and in a tie for 22nd overall as his score of 214(-2) featured three rounds of par scores or lower in Florida to kick off the spring. The sophomore posted a team-low 72(E) in Round 1 before registering a score of 70(-2) Tuesday morning and closing out the tournament with another par score of 72 Tuesday evening.

Christopher Bagnall’s score of 222(+6) through three rounds put him 53rd overall after a pair of 73(+1) scores and 78(+6) in Round 2 while Rocco Salvitti was shortly after in 58th with a score of 224(+8). Salvitti posted a tournament-low score of 73(+1) in the second round in addition to his scores of 76(+4) and 75(+3) in rounds one and three, respectively.

Mike Qiu rounded out the Irish men’s team in Panama City Beach, posting an overall score of 227(+11) at the Watersound Invitational including individual round scores of 78(+6), 74(+2) and 75(+3).

The Irish are back on the course March 10-11 at the Lamkin Invitational in San Diego, California.
