NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame junior Tom Usher has been named BIG EAST Golfer of the Month, as announced by the conference Wednesday. Usher earned the award after putting together three top-15 finishes, including two top-five results and an outright victory.
The Bradford, England native concluded the month of October with his first career medalist honor, capturing the individual title at the St. Mary’s Invitational on Oct. 26. He earned the victory with a 54-hole total of 212 (-4), as each of his three rounds finished up at even-par or better. His opening-round 68 also marked his lowest 18-hole score since joining the Irish program.
Usher matched 212-output to open up the month by finishing in fourth place at the Firestone Invitational (Oct. 11-12). He jumped towards the top of the leaderboard in the final round of action, carding a three-under par 69 to close the tournament. He also earned a share of 15th-place honors at the Lone Star Invitational (Oct. 17-18), posting a 217 (+1).
Of his nine rounds played during the month of October, Usher recorded five rounds of under-par golf to go along with three rounds at even par, good for a stroke-average of 71.22.
Usher and the Irish have since entered into the winter off-season but return to the course Feb. 10-12 for their spring season opener at The Match Play from the TPC of Tampa Bay in Lutz, Fla.
