Torin Francis Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll For Third Time In 2005-06

Notre Dame, Ind. – For the third time this season, Torin Francis (Boston, Mass.) has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Francis was named to conference’s weekly list after scoring 21 points and grabbing seven rebounds in Notre Dame’s 90-63 win over Rutgers on Feb. 8.

Connecticut’s Rudy Gay was named the league’s player of the week, while Dominic James of Marquette copped rookie-of-the-week honors. Also earning weekly honor roll recognition were Herbert Hill (Providence), Quincy Douby (Rutgers), Darryl Watkins (Syracuse) and Kyle Lowry (Villanova).

Francis is averaging 11.9 points and a team-leading 9.4 rebounds this season. He has scored in double figures in 13 contests and grabbed 10-plus rebounds 11 contests. In addition, Francis ranks as the team leader with five double-doubles.

The senior forward and two-time Irish captain has started all 104 games he has played in during his career and leads all Notre Dame players with 28 career double-doubles. Francis owns career averages of 11.3 points and 8.5 rebounds ranks in the top 10 all-time at Notre Dame in career double-doubles and rebounding. During his career, he has scored in double figures in 60 career outings, netted 20-plus points in 13 games and grabbed 10-plus rebounds in 39 contests.
