ACC Release

NOTRE DAME, Indiana – The Atlantic Coast Conference revealed its men’s and women’s 2018 All-ACC Academic Indoor Track & Field Teams on Thursday. The University of Notre Dame track and field team had 11 student-athletes selected to the team, including six men and five women.

This marks the fourth time in her career that Jessica Harris earned this recognition from the ACC. Graduate student Jacob Dumford and junior Matthew Birzer earned the third such honor of their indoor track and field careers. Seniors Payton Miller and Jordan Shead earned their second academic team honor during the indoor track and field season.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career.

Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team. Every student-athlete selected to the 2017 All-ACC Track and Field Academic Team earned All-America and/or All-ACC honors this past season.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.

The Irish return to action in split-squad meets at the Virginia Challenge at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 20-21, at Lannigan Field (Charlottesville, Virginia). Birzer and several Notre Dame athletes will compete at the Michael Johnson Invitational at Baylor’s Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium (Waco, Texas) at 10 a.m. ET on April 21.
