April 20, 2017

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Atlantic Coast Conference revealed its men’s and women’s 2017 All-ACC Academic Indoor Track & Field Teams on Thursday. The University of Notre Dame track and field team had 14 student-athletes selected to the team, including eight men and six women.

Juniors Patrick O’Connell and Jessica Harris each received recognition for the third time in their respective careers. Five Irish athletes — seniors Jacob Dumford, Christopher Marco, and Jamie Marvil, junior Drake Stimson and sophomore Matthew Birzer — earned the second such honor of their indoor track and field careers.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career.

Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team. Every student-athlete selected to the 2017 All-ACC Track and Field Academic Team earned All-America and/or All-ACC honors this past season.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.

The Irish return to action in split-squad meets at the Virginia Challenge at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 21-22, at Lannigan Field (Charlottesville, Virginia). Richartz and several Notre Dame athletes will compete at the Michael Johnson Invitational at Baylor’s Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium (Waco, Texas) at 11 a.m. ET on April 22.
