STATESBORO, Ga. – The University of Notre Dame men’s golf team fired off a second-round score of 289 at the Schenkel Invitational on Saturday, thus going one-over par for the round. Despite just finishing three strokes more than yesterday’s first round, the Irish dropped five spots in the standings into a tie for ninth place.

After round two, both Davis Chatfield and individual competitor John Felitto remained in the top-10 and within striking distance from the top spot on the leaderboard. The Irish duo are both tied for ninth at four-under par (140) and sit five strokes back from Vanderbilt’s Theo Humphrey.

ROUND TWO
Felitto recorded the best Saturday of any Notre Dame golfer, and was the only Irish player to finish under-par on the back nine at the Forest Heights Country Club. Felitto carded a 71, one-under par for the day, securing his second round under-par this year.

Chatfield remained in contention by staying at four-under with an even-par round. The freshman executed a bogey-free front nine that consisted of eight straight pars and a birdie on the ninth hole.

Davis Lamb tallied the most birdies on the day with five, but a double-bogey on the par-four 17th spoiled his day, finishing at 72, even-par.

Miguel Delgado rounded out the official team scoring for the day. The junior was one-under par after the front-nine, but tacked on two bogeys on the back half to finish one-over.

ON DECK
The Irish are paired with Florida and Iowa for Sunday’s final round. Kevin Conners will kick things off for Notre Dame, teeing off at 8:30, with the rest of the team following in nine-minute intervals.
