Women's Golf Leads The William K. Warren Irish Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team leads the 13 team field following day one of the William K. Warren Irish Invitational at the Warren Golf Course. The squad carded a 603 (+27) in 36-holes, posting a score of 305 (+17) and a 298 (+10) in the two rounds. Nicole Zhang (Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Carroll) is in the number one spot for the Irish and is tied for fifth place overall. The freshman totaled a score of 73 (+1) and a 75 (+2) following the 36 holes.

The Irish head into the final round on Sunday with a two-stroke lead over second-place Ohio (105, +29).Indiana and Kent State are in a tie for third place at 612 (+36).

Zhang recorded five birdies on the day, earning a 148 (+3) during her 36 holes. Junior Becca Huffer (Denver, Colo./Littleton) and senior So-Hyun Park (Seoul, South Korea/Bradenton (Fla.) Preparatory Academy) are tied for 13th overall. Huffer shot a 75 (+3) and 77 (+5) and Park posted a 152 (+8) in the 36 holes.

Kristina Nhim (Cypress, Calif./Cypress) and Katie Allare (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep.) rounded out the team scores shooting a 155 (+11) and 160 (+16) on the first day of the two-day tournament. Nhim shot an 83 in the first round, but bettered her 18-hole total in the afternoon by shooting a 72.

Competing as an individual, senior Katie Conway (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) is tied for 21st currently, after completing the first round at 81 (+9) and 79 (+7) in the second round.
