NOTRE DAME, Ind. — University of Notre Dame women’s lacrosse players KERRY CALLAHAN (Churchville, Pa.) and DEBBIE PRISINZANO (Vienna, Va.) were among 131 players honored and selected to the 1998 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWCLA) Division I Academic Team.

To be nominated for consideration a student-athlete must be a junior or senior with a minimum 3.2 grade point average and be a starter or important reserve on her squad.

CALLAHAN, one of the Irish tri-captains in 1998, led the Irish in scoring with 30 goals and a team-leading 20 assists for points. She was selected the Notre Dame National Monogram Club MVP for the women’s lacrosse team. In leading the Irish to a 7-6 record in its second season of varsity competition, CALLAHAN started 12 of 13 contests and had a goal or an assist in all 13 games. She also scored a season-high five goals against Stanford and dished off a season-best four assists versus Duquesne.

CALLAHAN, a Dean’s List student, will be a senior this fall. She is a communications/theater major with a 3.655 grade point average.

PRISINZANO, a two-year starter, graduated in May from the College of Business Administration with a degree in accounting. One of seven players to start all 13 games in 1998, she was the recipient of the Notre Dame Club of St. Joseph Valley Rockne Student-Athlete award. A Dean’s List student, PRISINZANO had an overall 3.667 grade point average during her eight semesters. She will attend Virginia Law School this fall.
