SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Notre Dame’s women’s soccer team used hat tricks by Anne Makinen and Jenny Streiffer en route to a 9-0 win over Ohio State in an exhibition game at Alumni Field Thursday night.
The Irish scored five goals in the first half and four second-half goals. Makinen scored the first three goals of the game to put Notre Dame ahead 3-0 juat 11:31 into the game. Streiffer and Monica Gerardo each scored to make it 5-0 at halftime. Streiffer added two more goals in the second half while Gerardo and Shannon Boxx also had second-half scores.
Notre Dame opens its season at Michigan State on Sept. 1.
