STILLWATER, Oklahoma – The University of Notre Dame men’s and women’s cross country teams posted a pair of top-15 finishes at the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championship on the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course at Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon. The women finished seventh overall with 261 points, while the men ended up in 15th place with 452 points.
Junior Olivia Markezich anchored the women’s seventh-place finish with her second consecutive All-America honor. The Woodinville, Washington, native finished eighth overall in 19:46.4, improving three places from her 11th-place finish a year ago. Sophomore Erin Strzelecki was second on the team and 54th overall (20:17.8) and she was followed by senior Katie Thronson in 68th (20:24.3).
The seventh-place team finish is the ninth top-10 finish for the women’s team at the national meet.

On the men’s side, sophomore Carter Solomon copped All-America honors in his first national meet, placing 18th overall in 29:18.8. Freshman Izaiah Steury ran a solid race to finish 63rd in 29:52.3, while junior Jake Renfree was 103rd in 30:13.7. The 15th-place team finish delivers the Irish their third-straight top-15 effort at the championship event.
