Irish Hitting Academy

The Irish Baseball Mini Hitting Camp sessions give campers an inside look at how elite hitters train at the college baseball level.  Each session of the Hitting Development Mini Camps will take place on 2 consecutive Tuesday nights, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.  These sessions offer high level hitting instruction from the University of Notre Dame Baseball staff and players.  The focus will be on the Fundamentals of the Swing, Approach, The Mental Game, and feedback from analytical tools.  Our goal is to help players of middle and high school aged players design an individual plan focusing on the four main areas of hitting.

This will be at Frank Eck Indoor Hitting Facility with a cap of 24 each session.

Fall Prospect Camp

This is a TWO-DAY prospect camp geared around prospective student-athletes interested in the University of Notre Dame and our baseball program. Recreating the Irish Experience for each camper will be our top priority.

The schedule will consist of a pro-style workout evaluating defense, offense, arm grades, and 60 times, along with game action. Each player will receive game action through live and controlled game scenarios in order for the coaching staff to properly evaluate and assess each player. Players will also be introduced and evaluated through our analytical tools, as applied, for further evaluation and individual player development feedback.

Defensive Instructional Camp

The Notre Dame Baseball Position Instructional Camp is a specialized training program focused on improving players’ skills at specific positions on the field, such as pitching, catching, infield, and outfield.

Here’s an overview of what to expect at camp:

1. Position-Specific Drills Pitchers: Work on mechanics, velocity, control, and pitch selection. Instruction might include bullpen sessions, drills to improve accuracy, and advice on maintaining arm health. Catchers: Focus on blocking, framing, throwing to bases, and managing the game. Incorporated with this will be pop times, receiving skills, and communication with pitchers. Infielders (1st base, 2nd base, shortstop, 3rd base): Drills for fielding ground balls, turning double plays, footwork, and throwing accuracy. Position-specific nuances are also covered, such as holding runners and positioning. Outfielders: Practice catching fly balls, throwing accuracy, taking proper angles, and communicating with teammates.

2. Defensive Techniques Proper fielding mechanics, such as glove work, foot positioning, and body alignment. Throwing techniques, emphasizing accuracy and arm strength development. Positioning and situational awareness, including how to react based on the batter’s tendencies and the game situation.

3. Baseball IQ & Strategy Teaching players how to read the game better, including understanding game situations, defensive positioning, and communicating with teammates.

4. Mental Training Includes mental conditioning to help players develop confidence, focus, and resilience. This can involve talks on how to stay calm under pressure and maintain a positive mindset during games.

5. Age-Specific Training Camps are typically divided into age groups (youth, middle school, high school, etc.), with instruction tailored to the players’ experience and skill level.

6. Coaching Staff Led by the Notre Dame Baseball Coaching staff and players.

Offensive Instructional Camp

Notre Dame’s Offensive Camp focuses on developing and improving a baseball. These specific camps provide training on various aspects of hitting, such as:

1. Batting Mechanics: Proper stance, grip, and swing technique.

2. Pitch Recognition: How to identify different types of pitches like fastballs, curveballs, and sliders.

3. Bat Speed and Power: Drills to improve bat speed and hitting power.

4. Situational Hitting: Understanding when to bunt, hit for power, or make contact based on game situations.

5. Mental Approach: Techniques to stay focused, confident, and make strategic decisions at the plate.

6. Data and Analytics to help serve the player’s swing and approach.

These camps are designed for players of all skill levels and ages, helping them enhance their offensive capabilities.

Irish Pitcher & Catcher Camp

Our Irish Pitcher-Catching camp is designed to work with athletes who are focused on their development and want to find ways to improve their game.

This camp option will be limited in numbers as our goal as a coaching staff is to work closely with each individual athlete.

During our camp we will have a presentation for both the pitchers and catchers. We go through a lot of the drill work and progressions we use with our athletes. We also provide a time for bullpens so pitchers and catchers can implement what they have learned while our staff continues to evaluate and coach.

A campus tour will also be provided during the camp to allow the student-athletes and their families a chance to experience our beautiful campus here at Notre Dame.

Youth Camp

Our Irish Youth Baseball camp is designed for young athletes that want to keep developing their general skills and for those that are trying to get into the game of baseball. Our camp will be instructed by the Notre Dame coaching staff, Notre Dame players, and other quality instructors.

Our Youth Camp will run Monday through Thursday, from 9am-12pm for ages 7-12 and 9-11am for ages 5-6. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will include offensive instruction, defensive instruction, and game play. For our last day of camp on Thursday, we will have a day filled with fun and competition through our Baseball Olympics.

We will break camp up by age and can adjust if needed for skill level, ensuring an enjoyable week for everybody in attendance.

All participants of Irish Youth baseball camp will receive a ND T-shirt.

Attire & equipment for camp should include cleats or tennis shoes, shorts or baseball pants all work, and we do recommend everybody wearing a hat. Equipment wise, everybody will need to bring at least a glove.

During camp, we will provide water and Gatorade, but recommend and encourage campers to bring their own water bottle.

*Extended Pitching Lessons for those interested in learning more about the fundamentals and mechanics of Pitching for an extra cost.

Showcase Camp

Our Irish Baseball Showcase is targeting talented baseball players with an interest in playing collegiate baseball and to showcase there abilities in front of the Notre Dame coaching staff.

During camp, athletes will have the opportunity to showcase there abilities in several phases. Position players will showcase there skills by running 60s, a defensive pro style workout, and on field batting practice, while pitchers throw bullpens in front of Trackman while all being evaluated in front of our coaching staff.

In addition to the baseball portion of camp, we will take the athlete and their families through numerous baseball facilities and parts of campus. We want the players to leave camp having an understanding of what it is like to be a Notre Dame student athlete.
