EUGENE, Ore. — The University of Notre Dame men’s track & field team wrapped competition Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon, as junior Michael Clevenger took home second-team All-America honors in the 5,000 meters.
Clevenger finished 15th in the race with a time of 14:13.44 for his first career All-America citation. Oregon swept the top two spots as Edward Cheserek (13:48.67) won the title, followed by teammate Eric Jenkins (13:48.92).
Oregon captured the team championship with 85 total points, followed by Florida (56), Arkansas (53), LSU (45) and USC (40.50). The Irish did not record a team score.
The NCAA Outdoor Championships will conclude Saturday with the final events of the women’s competition. Senior Jade Barber will look to follow up her school record-breaking performance in Thursday’s 100-meters hurdles semifinal with a championship performance in the final, while junior Margaret Bamgbose will pursue the title in the 400 meters championship race. The gun for the 100-meter hurdles will fire at 5:45 p.m. EDT, followed by the 400 at 6:05 p.m., and the event will air on ESPN2.
