Irish Compete in Boston, Chicago

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame track and field squads sent athletes to both the Boston University David Henry Valentine Invitational and the Wisconsin Windy City Invitational over the weekend.

A handful of Irish distance runners took part in the BU Valentine Invitational. Siona Chisholm (5000m) and Sophie Novak (3000m) both finished in the top 15 of their respective races, which featured over 100 athletes in each field. Daelen Ackley was 34th in a field of more than 350 runners in the one mile race in Boston.

Several athletes competed in the Windy City Invitational. In the women’s invite long jump, Jadin O’Brien took the top spot with a 6.22m performance. Kendall Burgess had a personal record long jump of 6.01m to place second, and Alaina Brady took third with a season-best 5.83m effort. Madison Schmidt continued her strong spring with another win in the high jump (1.81m).

Jack Henzke won the collegiate one mile race with a personal record time of 4:05.44. Michael Danzi posted a personal record time of 3:59.76 in the men’s one mile invite race on Friday night to place second.

The Irish close out the regular season with the Alex Wilson Invite on February 22 before the postseason begins in early March.
