Irish Continue Weekend at ACC Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – The Notre Dame track & field team continued their weekend efforts on day two of the ACC Championships at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston on Friday.

Rudecia Bernard started the day for the Irish by tying for fourth place in the women’s high jump with a 1.72m performance. The effort earned Bernard Second Team All-ACC honors at the meet.

Several members of the team earned spots in the Saturday finals in their respective events after strong performances in the preliminaries.

Jack Henzke ran a 4:00.95 in the mile prelims to qualify for Saturday’s final in the race. Mika Brouwer earned his way into the 400m final after running a 47.18 for the final spot in the event. Matthew Smith ran a season-best 1:49.25 in the 800m race to qualify for the final.

On the women’s side, Gretchen Farley notched a 2:05.25 in the 800m to punch her ticket to the Saturday final in the event.

The Irish women continue to lead the field with 29 points through six events. The men are in seventh place with a team score of 19 heading into the final day of competition on Saturday.
