STANFORD, Calif. — Much like Friday, the University of Notre Dame men’s and women’s track & field team turned in impressive performances in identical events, with each squad’s 4×400-meter relay team taking the Stanford Invitational crown and ranking among the best in the country on at the Cob Track and Angell Field on Saturday.
The top Fighting Irish women’s quartet of Parker English, Amber Lalla, Jordan Shead and Margaret Bamgbose snared the blue ribbon in the event in 3:35.17, which would top the nation based on times entering the weekend according to TFRRS.org. The grouping was quickly followed by teammates Payton Miller, Kaila Barber, Michelle Rotondo and Jade Barber, who finished fourth (3:43.87).
The Irish men’s 4×400-meter relay group of Eric Ways, Harvey Smith, Alex Groesch and Chris Giesting also claimed the crown in the event, posting what would be the nation’s 14th-best time (3:08.61).
Elsewhere, Jade Barber won her second-straight 100-meter hurdles race, this time in 13.33. In the women’s collegiate hammer throw, Lena Madison finished third with a personal-best toss of 51.61 meters.
