Irish Sign Four on National Signing Day

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s golf program is proud to announce that four newcomers will be joining the Irish in the fall of 2024. The Irish welcome Maddy Bante, Faustine Errecade, Caroline Owens and Bridget Wilkie who joined the Fighting Irish family on the 2023 National Signing Day,

Head Coach, Caroline Powers Ellis, is looking forward to having the four signees join the program.

“We are so excited about the class of 2024,” said Powers Ellis. “They all bring something unique to our team, but hold the same values of what it means, and what it takes, to be a Notre Dame student-athlete. They believe in what we are building in this program and want to strive for excellence every day. We are ready to make it official and welcome them to Notre Dame Golf.”

Maddy Bante (Englewood, CO)

  • 2022 Female Recipient – United States Golf Association (USGA) – American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Presidents’ Leadership Award
  • Won two consecutive individual 3A State Championships
  • In 2022 and 2023, named 3A – Girls Golf Player of the Year, Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA)
  • Qualified for the PGA Junior Championship, the USGA Girls’ Junior and was selected to represent Colorado in the Junior Americas Cup
“Maddy has an unmatched energy that she brings to each day,” said Powers Ellis. “She wants to excel in every area as a student-athlete and we know she will help our team continue to push to climb the ranks nationally.”

Faustine Errecade (Aix-en-Provence, FRANCE)

  • Voted class president since sophomore year
  • Won the Grand Prix of Pau 2022
  • Reached quarters at the Esmond Cup 2023 (French Internationals U21 Championship)

“Faustine will make a great impact on our team on and off the golf course,” said Powers Ellis. “She has climbed the ranks in Europe and her experience competing internationally will be a great benefit to our team.”

Caroline Owens (Hinsdale, IL) 

  • #1 ranked golfer in Illinois Class of 2024
  • 2023 AJGA Rolex Scholastic Junior All-American
  • 2023 4th place finish at AJGA Circle K Championship
  • 2022 IJGA-CDGA Junior Amateur Champion
“Caroline is exactly the type of student-athlete a coach looks for in a member of the team,” said Powers Ellis. “She has a laser focus on the course and is willing to hold herself and those around her to the highest standards.”

Bridget Wilkie (Bluffton, SC / Ontario, Canada)

  • Bakala Scholar Recipient
  • 16 tournament wins throughout North America (2020-2023)
  • 2023 Elite Invitational Champion
  • Three-time Individual High School State Championship / Four-time Team High School State Championship
“We knew Bridget was a perfect fit for the Fighting Irish from the start,” said Powers Ellis. “Her competitiveness, kindness, and determination really stood out early on and will help her continue to grow throughout her career.”
