NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Irish track and field squads wrapped up weekend competition with a successful Saturday as Notre Dame earned six first-place finishes on the final day of action.
At the Mt. SAC Relays, Joanna Schultz won the women’s 400-meter hurdles and Eric Quick finished first in the men’s triple jump at the Long Beach Invitational. At Purdue’s Dave Rankin Invitational, Marissa Treece won the women’s 1500 meters, Miklos Szebeny finished first in the men’s 100-meter dash, Rebecca Tracy was the top runner in the women’s 800 meters and Balazs Molnar won the men’s 400-meter hurdles.
Next weekend, the Irish will head to the Drake Relays and the Hillsdale Relays.
Mt. SAC Relays Results
Women’s 400m Hurdles: Joanna Schultz won the event with a time of 58.47, just ahead of Loughborough’s Justine Kinney in second at 58.53.
Men’s 800m: Jack Howard finished seventh in 1:50.66. UC Irvine’s Charles Jock won the event in 1:48.21.
Long Beach Invitational Results
Men’s Triple Jump: Eric Quick was the top jumper at 14.82m (48-07 1/2), edging Bruce McCall, competing unattached, in second at 14.68m (48-02).
Women’s 100m Hurdles: Nevada Sorenson finished 12th in 14.42. Idaho’s Christie Gordon was the top hurdler in 13.70.
Women’s 800m: Kelly Langhans finished seventh with a time of 2:09.99, Abby Higgins was eighth in 2:10.26 and Natalie Johnson finished 12th in 2:12.38. Seattle Pacific’s Jessica Pixler was the top runner in 2:04.89.
Men’s 800m: Blake Choplin finished second in 1:51.28, followed by Kevin Labus in fourth at 1:51.47 and Cameron Eckert in sixth at 1:51.92.

Women’s Hammer: Madeline Casanova finished 12th at 45.23m (148-05), while Mason Bashaw finished 18th in 40.13m (131-08).
Men’s Hammer: Mitchell Gormley finished fourth at 57.78m (189-07), John Belcher finished sixth at 54.82m (179-10) and Greg Davis was seventh at 54.32m (178-02). Andrew Hills finished ninth at 53.40m (175-02), Denes Veres was 11th at 50.32m (165-01) and Mike Smigelski was 18th at 46.25m (151-09).
Women’s Shot Put: Rudy Atang recorded a toss of 14.72m (48-03 1/2) to finish third. Jaclyn Espinoza finished sixth at 13.79m (45-03) and Madeline Casanova finished 13th at 11.73m (38-06).
Men’s Shot Put: Andrew Hills finished second with a mark of 16.97m (55-08 1/4), Denes Veres finished sixth at 16.74m (54-11 1/4) and John Belcher finished seventh in 16.53m (54-02 3/4). Anthony Thomas finished 10th in 14.70m (48-02 3/4) and Greg Davis was 12th at 13.59m (44-07).
Men’s Pole Vault: Andrew Kolbeck finished fourth with a height of 4.75m (15-07), while Dean Odegard was eighth at 4.30m (14-01 1/4).
Women’s Pole Vault: Rikki Lynn London was the top Irish finisher, coming in fourth at 3.41m (11-02 1/4). Chrissy Finkel and Jessica Sullivan tied for seventh at 3.26m (10-08 1/4).
Women’s Long Jump: Jasmine Williams finished third at 5.89m (19-04), Maddie Buttinger was seventh at 5.52m (18-01 1/2) and Lauren Leniart finished inth at 5.12m (16-09 3/4).
Men’s Long Jump: Justin Schneider finished sixth at 6.80m (22-03 3/4), and Ted Glasnow was ninth at 6.37m (20-10 3/4).
Women’s High Jump: Maddie Buttinger notched a mark of 1.67m (5-05 3/4) to finish second, just ahead of Kendra Jennings in fourth at 1.62m (5-03 3/4).
Men’s High Jump: Doug Onuscheck finished fourth with a height of 1.95m (6-04 3/4).
Women’s Javelin: Elise Knutzen finished fourth with a toss of 39.33m (129-00), while Maddie Buttinger finished 13th at 28.46m (93-04).
Women’s Discus: Jaclyn Espinoza finished second at 50.93m (167-01), and Madeline Casanova was 11th at 38.98m (127-11).
Men’s Discus: Anthony Thomas finished fifth at 47.02m (154-03), John Belcher was seventh at 44.23m (145-06) and David Anderson finished 12th at 41.53m (136-03). Ted Glasnow finished 19th at 37.03m (121-06), Justin Schneider was 20th at 35.92m (117-10) and Dean Odegard finished 21st at 35.71m (117-02).
Women’s Triple Jump: Lauren Leniart finished fifth at 10.70m (35-01 1/4).
Men’s Triple Jump: Connor Paladino finished sixth at 13.38m (43-10 3/4), followed by Patrick Glass in eighth at 13.24m (43-05 1/4).
Women’s 5000m: Rachel Velarde finished fourth at 17:56.95, Liz Barron was seventh at 18:15.87 and Grace Brier finished 12th in 18:52.78.
Women’s 1500m: Marissa Treece won the event with a tie of 4:36.23. Molly Hirt was ninth at 4:43.20, Susanna Sullivan finished 17th in 4:52.33 and Rachel Boggs was 23rd in 5:00.24.
Women’s 100m Hurdles: Maddie Buttinger finished third in 14.97, while Sasha Blanchard finished sixth in 15.55.
Men’s 110m Hurdles: Justin Schneider finished seventh in 15.39, Ted Glasnow was 11th at 17.13 and Dean Odegard finished 12th in 17.51.
Women’s 400m: Samantha Williams was sixth in 58.44, and Sasha Blanchard was ninth at 59.62.
Men’s 400m: Edward Hitchler finished second with a time of 48.40. Brendan Dougherty was 14th in 51.39 and Ronnie Kadykowski was 17th in 52.51.
Men’s 100m: Miklos Szebeny was the top sprinter with a time of 10.74. Tyrell Atkins finished sixth in 11.01, Sean Lindbloom was 10th in 11.37, Justin Schneider finished 11th in 11.54, Ted Glasnow was 13th in 11.89 and Dean Odegard finished 14th in 11.90.
Women’s 800m: Rebecca Tracy won the event with a time of 2:10.58. Allison Schroeder finished fifth at 2:15.21, Marissa Treece was 12th in 2:21.12, Angela Ryck finished 21st in 2:24.65 and Rachel Boggs was 27th in 2:27.44.
Men’s 800m: Trent Sayers was the top Irish finisher in seventh at 1:54.51. Brier Steenberge finished 10th in 1:55.16, Max Cruz was 16th in 1:56.46, Jim Notwell finished 18th in 1:57.80 and Zac Suriano was 25th in 2:03.97.
Women’s 400m Hurdles: Ericka Nowell finished fourth at 1:04.07.
Men’s 400m Hurdles: Balazs Molnar was the top runner with a time of 54.42.
