Notre Dame Tied For Ninth After Round One Of The Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Notre Dame women’s golf team carded a first round 299 (+11) to currently reside in a tie for ninth-place following the first round of the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Challenge. Junior Noriko Nakazaki (Hanover Park, Ill./Hoffman Estates) led the Fighting Irish on day one with an even-par 72 at the 6,207-yard Anthem Country Club. Today marked the seventh time that the Irish have shot a team round under 300 so far this season.

UCLA, the third-ranked team nationally according to golfstat.com, leads the loaded 16-team field with a nine-under par 279. No. 20 Arizona is second with a three-under par 285, while Pepperdine (No. 4) and Kent State are tied for third after shooting even-par 288s. UNLV’s Da Sol Chung leads the 85-golfer field with a five-under par 67.

Fighting Irish sophomore Jane Lee (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Peninsula) carded a two-over par 74 and is in a tie for 32nd-place. Senior co-captain Katie Brophy (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) is one-shot behind Lee with a 75 and in a tie for 38th.

Senior Lauren Gebauer (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) registered a six-over par 78 on the day and is tied for 60th. Freshman Lisa Maunu (St. Thomas, Ontario/Parkside Collegiate Institute) shot a 10-over par 82 and is tied for 72nd overall.

Tuesday’s second round will get underway with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m. (PT). Live results of the tournament are available at golfstat.com.
