BOSTON, Mass. – Obi Okeke continued a strong legacy of Irish titles at the ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the TRACK at New Balance by capturing first place in the men’s shot put.
Okeke posted an 18.50m throw in his fifth attempt to beat the field by 0.12m (4.75 inches) for the individual title and First Team All-ACC honors.
Matthew Smith set a new Notre Dame indoor program record with his 1:47.42 in the 800m. Smith finished second and was a First Team All-ACC selection after breaking a record which had stood since 1997.
Gretchen Farley earned Second Team All-ACC honors with a sixth-place finish in the 800m race after posting a 2:05.55 on Saturday.
Cameron Todd garnered Second Team All-ACC accolades with a fifth-place finish in the 3,000m race after running a 7:50.15.
The Irish men finished seventh overall with a team score of 43 while the women were ninth overall with a score of 34.
The indoor track & field season will come to a close on March 13-14 at the NCAA Indoor Championships, which will take place in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
