AS A FRESHMAN: Earned BIG EAST indoor qualifications in two events in his debut season with the Irish … his top times in both events came at the Notre Dame Invitational … ran 7.03 seconds in the 60 meters to take second and 21.86 in the 200 meters to take second in that event as well … ran the 60 meters at the BIG EAST indoor meet, but was unable to reach the finals … did not compete during the 2007 outdoor track season … should be Notre Dame[apos]s top returner in the short sprints in 2008.

HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL: Three-sport letterwinner (track & field, football and soccer) at Montini Catholic High School in Lombard, Ill. … two-time all-state selection on the track as a junior and senior (2004, 2005) … won four crowns at 2005 Illinois Class A outdoor state championships (100, 200, 400 relay, 800 relay) … was ranked among top 40 100-meter sprinters and top 15 200-meter sprinters in nation (according to DyeStat and Track & Field News) at end of 2004-05 season … named Men[apos]s Outstanding Performer from Illinois (teams from Iowa and Wisconsin also competed) at the 2005 Iowa Association of Track Coaches (IATC) Senior Spotlight Meet in Cedar Falls, Iowa; set new meet records and personal bests in both the 100 meters (10.51) and 200 meters (21.03) en route to winning four titles at the meet (two individual/two relay) … also member of Montini Catholic[apos]s 2004 state champion football team … was originally slated to attend U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. … was high school classmate of current Notre Dame sophomore Charlie Hilding … born Jan. 9, 1987 in Maywood, Ill. … son of Roberta Arquilla and Alan Farnell … younger of two children … plans to major in business at Notre Dame … enrolled in the First Year of Studies program.
