AS A SENIOR: Wrapped up Irish career snagging all-conference honors as a triple jump specialist in both indoor and outdoor seasons … began the season with a first-place finish in the triple jump at the Blue and Gold Invitational (11.70m)… placed fourth in the event at the Notre Dame Invitational (11.96m) … took a ninth-place finish at the Razorback Invitational (12.14m)… placed 15th in the triple jump at the Meyo Invitational (11.85m) … took a fifth-place finish in the triple jump at the Alex Wilson Invitational (11.70m )… set the Notre Dame indoor record at 12.68m during the ACC Indoor Championships, placing fifth and earning second team All-ACC accolades … placed 11th in the triple jump at the Texas Relays (11.65m) … Competed in the ACC/ Big Ten Challenge where she claimed first place (12.54m) … placed fourth in the triple jump during the Georgia Tech Invitational (12.27m )… snagged a fifth place jump at the Jesse Owens Track Classic (12.03m) … named to the All-ACC second team while snagging a fourth-place finish in the triple jump at the ACC Outdoor Championships … finished off the season at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships with a 15th-place finish in the triple jump semifinals (12.69m) … named to both All-ACC Academic Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field teams … earned a monogram.
AS A JUNIOR:Competed in eight meets during the indoor/outdoor track & field season … jumped to a 13th place finish in the triple jump (12.05m) at the ACC Indoor Championships … competed in both the 60m dash (seventh, 7.93) and the triple jump (first, 11.61m) to start the season at the Blue and Gold Invitational … competed exclusively in the triple jump during the outdoor track & field season … placed 13th (12.41m) at the ACC Outdoor Championships … also represented the Irish at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round, placing 45th in the preliminary section of the triple jump (11.83m) … began the outdoor season in impressive fashion, placing first in the triple jump (12.70m) at the Border Battle … placed fifth in the finals of the triple jump (12.49m) at the Georgia Tech Invitational … earned a monogram.
AS A SOPHOMORE: Competed in 14 meets during the indoor & outdoor track & field seasons … specialized in the triple jump but also participated in the long jump and 60m and 100m dashes … finished in first place in the triple jump six times during the season: Blue & Gold Invitational, GVSU Bob Eubanks Open, Notre Dame Invitational, Victor Lopez Rice Bayou Classic, Louisville Border Battle and the Polytan Invitational … recorded personal best in triple jump (12.54m) at Meyo Invitational, placing fourth … finished fifth in the long jump (5.38m) at the Notre Dame Invitational … finished third in the triple jump (11.63m) at the GVSU Second to Last Chance Meet … named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star … earned a monogram.
AS A FRESHMAN: Competed in eleven meets during the indoor/outdoor track & field season … participated in the long jump and triple jump events … started off her collegiate career with a personal best in the long jump (5.49m) and a second place finish at the Blue & Gold Invitational… also finished first in the triple jump with a 11.43m … placed second at the Purdue Mike Poehlein Invitational in the triple jump with a 11.43m effort … jumped a personal best (12.00m) in the triple jump at the Polytan Invitational … earned a monogram.
HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL: Mary-Esther Gourdin graduated from Riverside High School in the spring of 2011 … lettered four times in track & field, primarily competing in the long and triple jumps … personal bests include 17-7 in the long jump, 39-6 in the triple jump and 59.3 in the 400-meter run … won state three years in a row… regional champion all four years … team captain all four years and team MVP as a junior and senior … named all-city, all-region, all-county and all-state as a junior and senior … also participated in Beta Club, National Spanish Honor Society, youth group and the Welcome Committee … earned the AP Distinguished Scholar with Honors and American Legion Citizenship awards and was a National Achievement Scholarship Outstanding participant … born to Dexter and Deborah Gourdin in Greenville, S.C. … has two older brothers, Daniel and Dustin, and a younger brother, Michael … both parents attended Notre Dame … brother, Dustin, played football for Furman University … enrolled in the College of Arts & Letters and is majoring in American studies Arts & Letters pre-health.
