HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL: Competed in both football (linebacker/fullback) and track (shotput) while attending Homestead High School…lettered three times in track while earning a letter twice for his efforts on the football team…helped football team earn conference and regional titles in his sophomore through senior seasons, including the state crown and a national ranking in his junior year…elected as team captain and named to the all-conference and all-city teams during his senior season…helped team capture conference championship in track in junior and senior seasons…earned track all-conference and all-city honors in senior year…set his personal best mark of 55[apos]3′ in high school…served on the Student Council…son of Brian Smigelski and Barb O[apos]Brien…has one sister, Katie…enrolled in the First Year of Studies.
