ITA Midwest Regional Singles Results – Day Five
ITA Midwest Regional Doubles Final Results
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Senior Kelcy Tefft and freshman Kristy Frilling won the 2008 ITA Midwest Regional Doubles Championship Monday.
The duo knocked off DePaul’s Dunja Antunovic and Kristin Gambrell, 8-5, to claim the title. Tefft and Frilling are now 10-0 on the season.
This is the third consecutive Midwest regional doubles crown for Tefft, who won the last two titles with former partner Brook Buck.
Tefft also advanced to the finals of the singles main draw. The Enid, Okla., native defeated Irish teammate Kristin Rafael, 6-2, 6-4, in the quarterfinals, before knocking off Antunovic, 6-2, 6-1 in the semis, to advance to the final round. Tefft, the 43rd-ranked singles player, will face Northwestern’s No. 30 Samantha Murray in the final match Tuesday.
In other Irish singles action, Frilling defeated Northwestern’s Elena Chernayakova, 6-3, 6-2, before falling to Murray, 0-6, 3-6, in the semifinals. Junior Kali Krisk dropped her quarterfinal match to Antunovic, 4-6, 2-6.
