SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame indoor track & field team competed in three meets over the February 13-14 weekend with the Irish setting strong marks at DePaul, in Indianapolis and at Boston University.
DePaul Alumni Meet
Reese Sanders took first place in the women’s 400m race with a time of 55.61. Remy Finn had a personal record time of 55.58 to lead a trio of Irish runners who finished fifth through seventh in the event. Mike Brouwer turned in a 47.56 performance in the men’s 400m race to place third overall. Lauren Huber claimed third in the women’s 800m with a personal-record time of 2:09.49. The women’s 4x400m relay squad of Finn, Camille Peisner, Sanders and Jordyn Borsch had the top time of the race with a 3.43.31.
Jackson McDowell won the men’s high jump after posting a 2.05m clearance in the event. On the women’s side, Rudecia Bernard was second with a 1.70m effort in the high jump. Zahra Bichara came in third in the women’s long jump with a 5.77m performance.
Heartland Invite
Ben Pable took first place in the men’s weight throw on Friday night with a 21.84m. Obi Okeke turned in a 20.61m throw in the same event for fifth place. Jillian Stafford placed 11th in the women’s weight throw with a 16.58m mark.
On Saturday, Julia Reglewski placed fourth in the women’s shot put with a 14.38m effort. John Schuler took the top spot in the men’s mile race with a time of 4:04.72. Okeke went on to post the second-best shot put performance in program history with an 18.81m performance while placing second on Saturday. Zach Petko finished fourth overall and added the fifth-best shot put mark in program history with an 18.52m effort.
Cole Stehly placed third in the men’s 800m race with a time of 1:51.46 to pace the Irish efforts in the event.
Boston University – Valentine Invite
Speed was on full display in Boston over the weekend. Jack Henzke posted the eighth-fastest indoor mile time in program history with a 3:58.99 on Friday night while placing tenth. Benji Anderson nearly broke the four-minute plateau with a 4:00.21. Cameron Todd posted the fifth-fastest indoor 5,000m in the program’s top marks all-time with a 13:28.26 to take first place in the open race.
Gretchen Farley turned in the sixth-fastest indoor mile in program history for the women with a 4:34.18 while taking 18th. Amaya Aramini paced the Irish efforts in the 5,000 with a 15:36.38 to finish sixth out of 140 competitors.
The Irish wrap up the regular season for indoor track & field on Saturday, February 21 by hosting the Alex Wilson Invite at Loftus Sports Center. Events begin at 11:00 a.m.
