DES MOINES, Iowa – Notre Dame track and field junior Rebecca Tracy advanced to Saturday’s 1,500m finals, to highlight day two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday.
Tracy finished sixth in heat one and 12th overall (4:13.48) to lock up the final spot in Saturday’s finals. Tracy is looking to become Notre Dame’s highest finisher in the women’s 1,500m since Kerry Meagher took ninth and 10th, respectively, in 2004 and 2005. Lauren King took sixth in 2002, which is the highest finish in Notre Dame history.
Senior Johnathan Shawel placed ninth in heat one to take 20th overall in the men’s 1,500m run. Shawel crossed the line in 3:47.36.
The Notre Dame women’s 4x400m relay team finished 19th in 3:37.97. The team of Jade Barber, Michelle Brown, Megan Yanik and Natalie Geiger finished eighth in heat one.
The men’s 4x400m relay team took 23rd after finishing eighth in heat two. Brendan Dougherty, Patrick Feeney, Mitchell Lorenz and Chris Giesting completed the race in 3:13.35.
Junior Jessica Rydberg took 24th with a time of 36:17.94 in the 10,000 meters.
