Weight Throw Record Falls as Irish Compete in Arkansas, Indianapolis

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Ben Pable broke the school record for in the men’s weight throw to set the tone for the Notre Dame men’s and women’s track & field efforts at the Wooo Pig Classic at Arkansas.

Pable posted a 21.94m throw in his third attempt of the day to surpass the Irish record of 21.37 set in 2019. His mark was six feet beyond the second place finisher’s 20.10m effort on the day.

Zach Petko posted the sixth-best shot put performance in program history with a 17.89m while finishing first at Arkansas. Obi Okeke placed third with a 17.19m. Julia Reglewski finished second at

The Irish women’s long jump group and throwers competed at the Fairgrounds Invitational in Indianapolis on Friday and Saturday. Zahra Bichara finished fourth overall after clearing 5.59m. Gabriella Zeller claimed fifth with a 5.57m effort, and Ashley Fisher placed seventh with a 5.56m clearance.

On Saturday, Zeller took fourth in the triple jump with an 11.78m on the day. Ore Olusi posted a 13.85m mark in the shot put to place fourth.

The Irish will compete in the Heartland Invite in Indianapolis and the Boston University Valentine Invite over the February 13-14 weekend.
