Notre Dame Head Coach Mufet McGraw:
On the Game:
“Our game plan was to go inside which is probably why we had so many charges. I’m pleased with what we did tonight. The rebounding was the biggest disappointment of the game for us.”
On Ruth Riley:
“I think it was one of the best games Ruth [Riley] has had all year. You can credit her work ethic. She played smart today.”
On Liberty:
“They are the kind of team you hate to play because they play so hard for 40 minutes. I thought in the first half they outworked us. They [Liberty] out-hustled us and just played harder. I think that was a sign of how much they wanted to win the game.”
Notre Dame Center Ruth Riley:
On her performance:
“I was disappointed with how I started the season – getting into foul trouble a lot. I felt like coming in that was the first thing I needed to take care: playing smart and being able to stay in the game and from that just play the game.”
Liberty Head Coach Carey Greene:
On the game
“This was a good opportunity for the Lady Flames to be challenged against a top- 20, a top-10 team. Notre Dame is an unforgiving team. You make a mistake and they are going to capitalize on it whether offensively or defensively. We were exploited in an area that we are young and inexperienced in.”
On his team:
“We are going to get better as the season progresses. I’m not ashamed, in fact, I am very proud of the ladies and how they stood in there and fought. We can take some positives out of this. We can play with a lot of teams if they do what we ask them to do: execute and rebound.”
Liberty Guard Sarah Farley:
On the play of Notre Dame:
“Notre Dame was very well coached I think they understood that we were young in the post and they knew to get it into Ruth [Riley]. She did a wonderful job and she’s one of the top players we are going to go against this year.”
“We’re going to take many positive things out of this. To play North Carolina or Notre Dame, was a great opportunity. As for as confidence level, we can play with anyone if we just go the stuff that we need to do well. If its stopping a 6’5 post player [Riley] that’s All-American is what we have to do then we are going to do our best to do that.”
